Rav Eitan Aviner, age 30, was born and raised in the New York area. After high school, he made Aliya by himself, spending his first years in Eretz Yisrael learning in Yeshivat Reishit and Yeshivat Hesder Maale Adumim . He went on to complete a B.Sc. in Applied Physics, specializing in Medical Engineering, from the Jerusalem College of Technology. Keeping his feet still within the walls of the beit midrash, Rav Eitan remained in learning at the Gruss Kollel and received Smicha from RIETS. He is currently in the process of a Masters in Education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education & Administration, as well as Advanced Smicha (Rav Ir) from the Rabbanut of Israel. His wife Rachel, born and raised in Toronto, also made Aliyah by herself. She holds a B.Ed. from The Michlala of Jerusalem, specializing in Tanach and Oral Torah, as well as a M.Sc. in Sociology from the University of Texas, and is currently working as a therapist. They live in Yerushalayim with their three daughters.
Rav Imannuel Nahon, age 30, made Aliyah from France at the age of 13 and graduated high school in Israel. He went on to learn at Yeshivat Hakotel where he did Hesder and served in the Nachal Brigade. He has completed his Smicha from the Chief Rabbinate as well as the majority of the Dayanut. This is an amazing achievement for someone of his age who was one of the youngest people ever to be accepted to the Kollel and successfully complete all of these exams. Rav Emmanuel has simultaneously completed a Law degree and has a very broad knowledge of Jewish philosophy. His wife Tzofia headed the office of Deputy Minister of Transport for the past year and a half and currently works in the Foreign Ministry. They have two children.
Rav Avichai Eitam, age 30, studied for 2 years at The Bnei David Mechina in Eli and another four and a half years at Yeshivat Har Hamor. Rav Avichai was an officer in the elite Egoz unit and has completed his Smicha certification of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He spent a year in England while his father was there on behalf of the State. As part of his officer’s reserve duty as an Army Rabbi, Rav Avichai fought in the recent Gaza war (Operation Protective Edge). His wife Hadas’s family is well known for their unique contribution to Am Yisrael – two of her brothers were officers in Golani and both fell in battle. Hadas has a master’s degree in Educational Counseling and works as a therapist. Her mother Miriam Peretz was recently rewarded the Jerusalem Prize. They have three daughters.
Rav Yehoshua Asulin, age 29, studied nine years at the Yeshivat Hesder Kerem Beyavne. During his service in the IDF, he served in the Golani 12th Brigade as a combat soldier. Rav Yehoshua has completed his Smicha Certification from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and is currently completing his Advanced Smicha Certification (Rav Ir). He has completed a B.Ed. degree from Orot Israel specializing in Tanach and the Oral Torah. Rav Yehoshua spent a year in the New York area during his High School years and speaks fluent English. His wife Malki is a Sports Education teacher. They have three children.
Rav Joel Kenigsburg, age 28, made Aliya from South Africa after graduating high school with eight distinctions. He learnt in Yeshivat Hakotel for seven years and was the Shoel Umeishiv for the International students program. He is currently completing his advanced Smicha (Rav Ir) of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel , and has a B.E.D degree specializing in Tanach and Oral Torah. He served in the IDF manpower division. Rav Joel’s wife Sarah, who made Aliya from England, has a Master’s degree (Cum laude) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Bar Ilan University. During her studies she was awarded the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award. They have one child.
Rav Eliyahu Silverman, age 28, studied seven years at Yeshivat Hesder Kerem Beyavne. He has completed his Smicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and is in the process of receiving his Advanced Smicha Certification (Rav Ir). During his service in the IDF he acted as a commander in the Givati unit. As an active reservist, he fought in the recent Gaza War (Operation Protective Edge). With his focus also concentrating on the needs of others, he has completed a B.Ed. from Orot Israel specializing in Education and Hebrew language. Along with his many skills, he was also a volunteer for Magen David Adom. Being the son of American Olim, Rav Eliyahu is fluent in both Hebrew and English. His wife Yocheved, who herself made Aliyah from Switzerland, is fluent in four languages. She is an English teacher and a certified translator. They have three children.
Rav Shmuel Elikan, age 26, made Aliya from Switzerland where he was born and raised. He made a remarkable impression in Yeshivat Hesder Maale Adumim as being one of the outstanding students. He served as a substitute Rabbi since age fifteen in a small town in Switzerland. During his service in the IDF he functioned as a medic. Being fluent in 4 languages has assisted him in authoring over 1800 responsa on different topics in Judaism on the internet (www.cheela.org). He is completing a B.Ed. degree specializing in Tanach and Oral Torah. Rav Shmuel is a popular maggid shiur throughout Jerusalem , especially in Beit Knesset Nitzanim. His wife Shira, a graduate of Midreshet Migdal Oz, completed her B.Ed., specializing in Hebrew Literature and Jewish Thought. As a French speaker herself, she’s currently responsible for all the French-speaking Sherut Leumi women in Jerusalem. They have one daughter.
Rav Ezra Patchino, age 28, grew up in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim, the son of American parents who made Aliyah. He studied seven years at Yeshivat Beit El. He is currently completing his advanced Smicha Certification (Rav Ir) from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. During his service in the IDF, he served in the Tanks Corps and he currently performs officer’s reserve duty as an army Rabbi. Rav Ezra was a volunteer for the Kav Lechaim organisation. His wife Tehila, is a clinical speech and hearing therapist. They have two daughters.
Rav Ezra Klein, age 29, studied at the Yeshiva Tichonit of Maale Adumim. Thereafter he spent a year at Yeshivat Har Etzion. Rav Ezra then joined the Yeshivat Hesder Maale Adumim in order to learn with his grandfather Rav Rabinnowitz, and learnt there for nine years. During his service in the IDF he served in the Tanks Corps. He is completing his Advanced Smicha Certification (Rav Ir) as well as a degree in chemistry from the Hebrew University. Both Rav Ezra and his wife Chani come from English speaking homes. Chani is currently completing an intense learning program for women at the Beruriah Seminary.
Rav Doron Podlashuk made Aliya from South Africa where he was born and raised.
He studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion for close to ten years, and served in the Golani
Infantry Brigade. He received his Smicha Certification from the Chief
Rabbinate of Israel and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and
Management from the University of South Africa. Rav Podlashuk was the Associate Rabbi of Mizrachi South Africa, as well as Rosh Beit Midrash of the Beit Mordechai Campus Kollel. He was the community Rav of MYA for six and a half years. On their return from shlichut in South Africa for six and a half years, Rav Doron helped found the Selwyn and Ros Smith & family Manhigut Toranit program at Eretz Hemdah. He is currently the Director of the program as well as a participant in the learning program. Rav Doron has been a maggid shiur for Daf Yomi for the last 11 years. His wife Keren is a physical
therapist. They have 5 children.
